*1: Groβköther: In the agricultural history of northwestern Germany, Groβköther were termed a serf- farmer who ranked third in the village hierarchy . The Großkötterwere obliged to hand and tension service at the landlords . They lived in small housee, usually on the edge of the village, and always separated from the farmland. They cultivated an area of 12 to 24 hectaresand had little livestock and at most one horse. Since the income was often not sufficient for a living, they also performed manual labor or worked in day-service on farm and manor farms. In addition to the manual service, they had to pay interest in cash in return for the transfer of the house and the farmland to the landlord, and to deliver natural resources such as chickens, eggs and grain.
*2: the parish Hohe does not exist as such anymore. It is now part of Hehlen (zip code 37619)
*3: Vollmeier: As Vollmeier referred to in the agricultural history is a serf farmer, who was in the village hierarchy in the first place and was one of the largest farmers in the village. The Vollmeier had to provide his landlord with other services and payments such as a complete cart or carriage, consisting of a four horses-team for plowing or for transport services. The services were calculated on a daily basis and took in the summer 6am to 6pm with 2 hours lunch break and in the winter from 8am to 2pm without a break. These services were seen as a heavy burden and extremely reluctantly performed. In addition to meadows, pastures and woods, a full-span farm included around 24 to 48 hectares of farmable land. In addition to the services, the peasants still had to provide money and benefits. These included the purchase of wine to be paid when the farm was taken over, an annual tax and natural resources in the form of grain, cows, pigs, lambs, chickens and eggs.
